Introducing Project Impact: Driving Discovery to a Cure for Pediatric Brain Tumors
Announced earlier this week, Project Impact is the National Brain Tumor Society’s new, integrated initiative to tackle the critical barriers hindering successful drug development for pediatric brain tumors. Moreover, Project Impact will seek to fundamentally change how new treatments are uncovered, developed, and tested to advance the overall field of pediatric brain tumor research.
To achieve these goals, Project Impact will combine efforts in funded research and public policy to confront the current inefficiencies within the pre-clinical research system and pediatric cancer clinical trial environment. Together, these efforts will seek to optimize the entire drug discovery and development pipeline (for pediatric brain cancer) and create significant advances in therapeutic options for patients.
National Brain Tumor Society believes this effort will change the landscape of how new pediatric cancer drugs are brought from medical academic research labs to market, as well as demonstrate the value of working thoughtfully and collaboratively to speed the path to a cure.

If you have ever had the opportunity to participate in the New York Brain Tumor Walk since its inception in 2011, you’ve no doubt seen the large throng of walkers adorned in bright colored regalia. In 2011 it was purple and green. In 2012 it was neon green and orange. And in 2013 it was [...]
National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for people living with a brain tumor today and anyone who will be diagnosed tomorrow. This means effecting change in the system at all levels.
